Peak Performance Training Phases:
The Series Descriptions

Phase: 1 Series begin Nov 7th and run thru Dec 31st!

Each Series within a Peak Performance Training Phase is a  planned and structured, multi-faceted program that builds upon itself weekly. Collectively, our Peak Performance Training Phases will bring you into spring stronger, faster, and a better cyclist and will keep you in top shape all year round.

Aerobic Capacity "Base Builder"
Phase 1 (Nov-Dec) & Phase 2 (Jan-Feb)

This essential core training series will build a solid, aerobic foundation. All other training series are built on top of this series.  Taking the Aerobic Capacity series at any point during your yearlong training cycle is always beneficial to your overall fitness.

Form & Technique
Phase 1 (Nov-Dec)

This series develops cycling efficiency through proper pedal stroke, body position, and breathing technique while still under the demands of a very challenging workout.  Even seasoned cyclists will find this training series valuable in honing their form & technique.

Cycle Life Climbing Series: 7 Saturdays / 7 Climbs
Phase 1 (Nov-Dec)

The "7 Saturdays / 7 Climbs" rides are all approximately 90 minutes in duration and are a fantastic way to augment your Phase 1 training. Rather than merely simulating a course profile, you will mirror the actual power profile of the riders shown in the video.

Endurance Booster
Phase 2 (Jan-March) & Phase 4 (May-Oct)

This series takes your aerobic capacity to the next level by building your body’s ability to perform efficiently for an extended period of time.  While absolutely beneficial for all cycling disciplines, this series can be especially valuable for triathletes and long distance cyclists.

Strength & Power
Phase 2 (Jan-March) & Phase 4 (May-Oct)

An essential core training series for all cycling disciplines, this series will boost muscle development while improving your overall recovery time.  Road cyclists, triathletes, cycle cross racers, and mountain bikers all stand to gain big dividends from training for Strength & Power.

Speed Builder
Phase 3 (March-April)

This training series will develop "quickness & snap" in the legs that will lead to more explosive acceleration.  All cycling disciplines will benefit greatly from this challenging training series - the extra power to bridge a gap or breakaway from the pack. Cyclists who "race" could also see dramatic improvement in their sprint performance.

Hilly Hillacious
Phase 3 (March-April)

Want to climb hills even better? This challenging series will teach you how to climber faster, recover more quickly, and use your bike's gearing to your overall advantage. We will focus on maintaining difficult yet sustainable efforts that will take you up and well over the top of any hill you face.

Power Endurance
Phase 3 (March-April)

This essential training series will increase your total sustained power output. The greater your power endurance the less fatigue and faster recovery you will experience while on the bike. 

Power Booster
Phase 4 (May-Oct)

This series will completely challenge you to take your fitness to the next level. This series is difficult - but it is well worth it! It is essential to keeping you performing at your best as you head into your event season - and well beyond.

Indoor Time Trial
Phase 1 (Nov-Dec) & Phase 2 (Jan-Mar)

Our monthly indoor race series: Put your skills & fitness to the test! Pit yourself against the clock or race against your friends & fellow CycleLifers. These exciting indoor races will provide an opportunity for you to gauge your cycling fitness in a dynamically engaging and interactive way.  Every month you'll continue to see how your training at Cycle Life is constantly making you fitter and faster.

Flexible Class Times:
Within each phase, we have structured the series sign-up to allow for flexible class times to suit your work and life schedule.  Here’s how it works:

Starting Nov. 7th, Peak Performance Training Phase: Phase 1 will begin with the Aerobic Capacity "Base Builder" class and meet twice a week. We have also added a new class, “Form and Technique” which will focus on developing rider efficiency. This class will offer one workout per week.

- Mondays & Tuesdays will offer workout 1. 
- Wednesdays & Thursdays will offer workout 2.
- Friday & Saturday we will split the class and offer both workout 1 & 2 depending on the needs of those signed up.

Flexible Sign Ups:
Sign up for class time(s) that works for you. To
guarantee your preferred class time(s), sign up here or use the CycleLife App to make a recurring reservation. If you need to modify a reservation, you can always do so 12-hours in advance and then enroll in another class time that has an opening that week. Any CompuTrainer ride credits you currently have may be used towards any series/class within a Peak Performance Training Phase. If you need credits. (click here to buy).  Once you have the ride credits in your account, simply enroll in your preferred series/class times.

For those new to Peak Performance Training we will start by establishing your threshold level. Then throughout the series we will focus building a solid aerobic base, developing proper form and technique, building muscle strength, endurance and explosive power by spending quality time on sub-threshold, threshold, anaerobic capacity, VO2, and anaerobic endurance intervals. Our coaches will work with the group and with you individually to help you get the most out of this series.  Sign up for Peak Performance Training and get ready to be FAST for spring!

If you are new to using a CompuTrainer you will need a rear training skewer that looks like the one below. Please have one of these installed on your bike when you arrive for your class. If you do not have one they are available next door at Bikebarn.
